For art try the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design, The Costa Rican Art Museum, or Museo MACIA. The University of Costa Rica has an insect museum as well as a zoo. Jaco is best experienced through food and shopping. The small, walkable town is fun to explore, and dining the region’s cuisine is a delight for visitors. OUTDOOR RECREATION
Adventure travelers will revel in the endless possibilities to stay active. Jaco is a premiere surfing destination. Surfers come from around the globe to visit, primarily to experience the waves of Playa Hermosa. It’s also a great place for learning to surf. Surf instruction is easy to find whether you want to do it individually or as a group. Rentals are also easy to come by. Other activities include mountain biking, kayaking, horseback riding, sport fishing, beachfront fitness classes, and thrilling expeditions into neighboring national parks. Dense jungle with a large variety of wildlife resides in both Carara and Manuel Antonio National Parks. When it’s time to slow the pace, a little outdoor yoga or a stroll down the beach is a welcome respite.

GETTING THERE
Jaco is located about eighty miles away from Juan Santamaria International Airport. Flights from around the world are available into San Jose. From San Jose there are several methods to get you to Jaco. The town is easily accessible by car, or one of the buses that run frequently. There is also an Easy Ride Shuttle Service that runs three times a day. No matter what transportation you choose, make sure to take in the breathtaking scenery along the way.
