INTAKE SKILLS

PRODUCTION SKILLS

ECELA group classes consist of 20 weekly hours, which are divided into 10 hours of

interactive grammar and 10 hours of conversation and communication.

A) INTERACTIVE GRAMMAR (2 HOURS DAILY):
With our method, students take a lead role in their own learning, working in groups or pairs. By working with the professor’s instructions, students will  be able to observe, analyze, discover, understand, and assimilate the grammar with the result of applying these  skills  to  practical  use  (real  situations  that arise  in  daily  life).  Students  observe,  discover,  and understand  how  the  language  functions  instead  of  a  gaining  a  shallow  understanding  of  memorized rules. The ultimate goal is a personal ownership and an understanding over grammatical rules. This methodology is based on Guided Learning principles.
B) CONVERSATION & COMMUNICATION (2 HOURS DAILY):
These classes are designed to apply grammar  learned  earlier  in  the  course  using  dynamic activities  that  simultaneously  contribute  to  the development of the students’ speaking and listening skills. There is a wide variety of activities, including debates, role playing, simulations, presentations, audio comprehension, small group or pair work, brief film clips, etc. In this way, students will learn to defeat the fear and self-consciousness of communicating in a new language within the classroom, before employing more confident language use outside of the classroom.

Communicative Method plus Guided Learning.
This methodology aims at learning through observation, analysis, comprehension, application, and linguistic production that can be represented with a pyramid.

ECELA COURSE DETAILS
ECELA classes are divided in two blocks, Grammar & Conversation. The different blocks  are designed according to the student’s skills and level; therefore, if a student is good in speaking, but no so much in writing, he/she will be placed in two different levels, with different teachers and classmates.
