CULTURAL ATTRACTIONS

Although mainly a town with an abundance of recreation there is also ways to experience the culture and history of Costa Rica. Tamarindo’s culture is found through the cuisine and shopping. Bypassing the international restaurants can lead you to some wonderfully sampling of Costa Rican specialties.

The town also has a wide variety of shops featuring local artisans. For those wanting to learn more about the history of the area, traveling to Liberia or taking one of the daily buses to San Jose can provide you a larger selection of attractions. Liberia has a couple of museums, and the “Colonial City of Costa Rica” also pleases visitors with its beautiful white-washed architecture.

When you’re ready to dry off try horseback riding, zip-lining, or go explore the nearby wildlife refuge of Diria. Those wanting a slower sport can engage in a round of golf. Tamarindo is home to Hacienda Pinilla, one of the best courses in the Central American region.
